A reminder: Mask up. Vaxx up. And STAND UP to anyone who insists that this is all a psych-op, or that the science of the past year can be dismissed.

I was about to go out for my daily constitutional. But now I have to get this song onto my Walkman first.

Also, because the Pixel 6 doesn't have a headphone jack, I was forced to buy a Bluetooth accessory for it.

Success! And yes, it's very odd to feel "lucky" a store allowed me to purchase an expensive item.

Yes, this is a brilliant marketing opportunity: Calm and other meditation apps should bid for the ad space on online stores' "Failed to checkout error" pages. A Calm ad on the Google Store error page would have made serious bank today.

UGH. I've had this Pixel 6 Pro 512 gig in my Google Store cart since 1:05 PM. Now the site tells me it's out of stock so it's been removed from my cart. SURELY NONE HAVE SUFFERED AS I SUFFER ON THIS DAY

I've had a Pixel 6 Pro in my Google Store cart for twenty minutes. Still trying to clear the traffic jam and check out. So far, yes, the new Pixel is delivering a very Apple-like experience but not in the aspirational way.

OMG. Dare I hope that after 40 years of waiting, we will finally (as promised) see..."Hitler On Ice"?

(I will also point out that I got a LOT of crap for my assessment at the time. It was almost as bad as when I wrote about switching to Android. But that's what you have to do: you state your opinion, you explain your reasoning, and then you accept whatever happens.)

I am going to be slightly insufferable for the next few days. The new MacBooks Pro are the "Andy Was 100% Right About The 2016 MacBooks" edition: every design element that I declared to be a terrible choice has been reversed. I'm just glad Apple has great laptops again.

Like, every single time. I'm about to say "flagship store" or "flagship phone" and brain puts "landmark" into the buffer. Error-checking protocol says, no, that's not right. Replace that word please. Brain comes back with "Whoops, sorry: 'landmark'."

I think the most bafflingly-annoying thing about my brainOS is when it _knows_ that the word it's putting into my cognitive buffer is the wrong one, but keeps doing it anyway. For example, its directory table for "flagship" (as in "flagship phone) points to "landmark" instead.

I don't want to jinx it. But after weeks of consistent progress, this could be the weekend when I finally achieve Cardboard Box Zero. Attacking the last corner of the house where I stashed a pile of boxes "just to get them out of the way temporarily" months ago.

Online retailers vs. bots: “It’s depressing to think about. At some point, you have to ask, ‘How much time are we supposed to spend to stop people from buying our products?’”

Top of this weekend's to-do list: round up all of the loose change in the house and hope it Coinstars out to like $1500. Between Apple's hardware announcements and Google's, this could be a spendy week ahead.

I'm on at 1-ish! On the docket: The NHTSA thinks Tesla's reporting of defects is defective; Congress seeks to stifle innovation in the "graft" space; your iPhone can reveal its location even when it's off but it's all good; and more. Stream it live or later!

If this account is true...yeah, Apple's following the standard corporate playbook for dealing with whistleblowers.
