People are having serious misunderstandings about what I actually can do for my job and it’s making me mad for not enough reason.

Wishes being handed out! Gilbert: An old safehouse of his Victoria: 5 minutes with a simulacrum of her mom Narhethi: gained a level by having a lot of hatred/wraith/souls poured into him Alecto: a lot of information on our enemies

Mimsy: "Alecto has specific orders from Ashcroft to be careful, so she's physiologically incapable of krunk." Me: "As I was going to say, Narhethi has been taking part in drinking games, by which I mean winning them."

Victoria and Alecto have signed a pact to murder a lot of people, inked on sheer rage against what's been done to people they care about Narhethi couldn't be more proud of them for having figured things out.

So on one hand, Victoria's dad for some reason doesn't seem to remember anything about her! Or her mom! On the other hand, we have a standing invitation to where he is, which is potentially really useful for, you know, striking at the enemy's base.

Clyde: "Is the creepy one - not [Narhethi], the other one - is he okay? I don't see him." Sicon: "he's creepy but he also saved you from poisoning so shut the fuck up." Mimsy: "The one good thing he did."

Gilbert respawns, has enough time for a short conversation with his Mind Flayer study partner before our demon lord benefactor summons him. This does not include enough time for him to put on clothes.

there's stuff that I want to be doing, and stuff that I'd rather be doing, but instead I'm just sitting around with static in my brain and accomplishing none of it and it all slowly accumulates
Show this thread
it feels like I get home from work and then the vast majority of the time my brain is unable to actually focus on anything and I spend the rest of the afternoon/evening doing very little, even if there's things that I'd want to do, until I go to bed late and get too little sleep

Me: "Well, at least someone smart is present." Wizard's player: "Unfortunately, it's Aisha!" In other news, the only party members who successfully managed to be cruel were the Cleric and our Wizard friend. Yay?

Ranger confirms that Sephek is present (though it's unclear if it's in the past or a present interloper), they see each other, but neither chooses to interact with the other. Artie continues to see plot-relevant visions, while having his internal monologue being external.

Merrick attempts to be cruel by telling someone who's doomed to die by how we know things play out (and the cultprit's words) and what their inevitable end result will be. But I rolled a 7 on the Intimidation check so we'll see if that actually worked or not.

Well, they get to see Auril directly. And by directly, I mean "is less than a thousand feet away from the party's current location". Barely scrapes by without having their brain literally break from seeing Auril and being seen by Auril. Fun times.

Artificer: -tries to use an artifact to scry Auril directly- GM: "So your DC is 17, and this check is being made at a +17, thanks to how it maths out. So I need to roll a nat 1 for this to work." GM: -rolls-

In Rime, most of the party is off trying to find a way to be cruel to past a test. Also the Artificer is off on their own doing exploration and finding out actual plot details. One of these is probably more important than the other.

Since this campaign takes place about 6 years after the Avenus one, we were discussion what the odds were that the Fighters from that group had passed through the Dale at some point. Consensus was they'd shown up, but left before the Rime on account of it being a bit boring.

so yeah Artificer gets the lore bomb that Sephek has been spending the time since we almost killed way back at the start of the campaign gathering a squad of people for the express purpose of fucking with our life Merrick is in a temporally displaced way talking to one of them

Artificer, having gone off on their own to try and avoid having to be cruel: GM: "So which of [two figures] do you focus on first?" Artificer's player: "The one on Artie's level." GM: "You see Sephek."

We're about to find out details about what the fuck was up with the white moose anyway. Looks like druid bullshit. Also Sephek ('s past self) might be present. Cleric player in chat: 'Yorvish: FUCKBOY LOCATED'

Failing a perception check means, in this case, that Merrick is unconsciously ignoring the atrocities and implications of dead bodies around him. Also, the duality of dice.

After a long rambling hour of pre-game conversation ping-ponging around other place, the Rime crew gets ready to complete another trial, of sorts. Last time was Preservation. This one is Cruelty.

why is it that a job that I'd actually want is also a job that is inconsistent in hours and employment duration, doesn't pay well, and probably doesn't lead anywhere solid career-wise

Alice: "So V have you seen Bloodborne concept art? That's what this kid's been drawing." Me: "What is wrong with this kid?" Alice: "He's an emo kid what do you want from me?"

So the child's name in the module is "Milivoj" but in the reverse of the usual 'we have no idea how to spell this' we have no idea how to pronounce this, GM included, so the child is by collective decision now "Milton".

Mordo/Alja: "So there's a wizard throwing lightning at the lake." Selene: "Why?" M/A: "We don't know." S: "Did you ask ANY questions?" M/A: "Yes, the person we spoke to didn't know much." S, the only party member who can social: -long, deep sigh-
