How much of your worldview comes from long-form video and podcasts? I can’t stand either (they’re so slow!), but that’s not the norm. Maybe by not listening to debates I’m missing something?

For me, listening to podcasts while walking, mostly at 1.75x or 2x speed both gives me some exercise/movement, and a good overview of ideas. There is also huge difference between the density of ideas in things like Pod Save America, and for example Future Thinkers.

I think part of the issue for me is that I zone out a lot while listening and reading. While reading, I can just find my spot again. With podcasts while working out, I had to keep deciding if the part I just missed is important enough to pull out my phone for.

Podcasts are 80% of my intellectual life-world or something, most of my thoughts relate to them in one way or another

This is so weird to me but I’m probably the odd one out!

Many people listen to podcasts at 1.50 or 2.0 times normal speed. No way a dense audiobook or intellectual podcast is going to be too fast at that speed

Maybe 10%. Like you I prefer other forms of media (in my case reading it) as like you said, too slow. But some things I just can't find transcripts of, or seems as though it would be easier to consume in the slow format.
