Telling someone in a non judgmental way that their breath smells or they have something stuck in their teeth. The nice thing to do may be to say nothing at all.

kind ~~ kin\kine\king\kink.. ~~ act-ive add/produce nice ~~ avoid/ignore/reduce re-actions harder to be kind than nice to another. easier to be kind than nice to oneself. ..if i might add.

OK, I'm game. Off the cuff: Consider the example of a "crazy wisdom" enlightened teacher. The latter's tactics may be not nice at all yet may be undertaken out of lovingkindness or out of a desire to push the student to the penultimate step before "ego-death."

If this case be granted, then it could be concluded that there are plenty of times when a wise person does something that's not nice (inasmuch as it violates certain social conventions, mores, etc.) but with penetrating kindness whose point is to arouse someone to Life.
