Writing book on bots involved in Election 2016 has had me digging into shit ton of research. Pretty amazing how much #trumprussia #kremlingate conspiracy took place in relative open of Internet. Yes, also lots of secret stuff. But a lot happened in plain sight if one was looking.
The amazing thing is coordination that existed then, and still between the Kremlin and Trump in terms of messaging, timing, retweets, mentions, putting out same information, using same fake information/disinformation. 24 hours a day this was happening in real time, in the open.
While I recognize and fully understand how + why the USG has way, way, way more evidence from sigint, humint + other collection methods -the sheer amount of coordination/conspiracy that was actually out in the open, on the Internet is mind blowing. 2yrs on, some deleted. Not all.
When all is said + done, it is quite obvious that Mueller will be drawing on both his investigations, interviews and collected data -- as well as pretty deep open source record as well getting into minute detail about coordination underlying the conspiracy. So much was in open.
It is one of those things. If a bunch of us had stopped arguing about the election/candidates for a few days, just looked at the logistics of the coordination behind the conspiracy in election 2016, more reporters would have been able to write stories then showing the connections
Two years ago, I was on it. People like @ValdisKrebs was on it. Not speaking for him, but I can state emphatically that trying to get people to listen to the truth about the depth of the coordination going on powering the conspiracy in election 2016 was a seriously uphill battle.
I can't express how frustrating it was then to know what was happening, to be sending emails, tweets, talking to anyone and everyone in government who would listen politely, trying to get reporters to write stories. Now looking back 2 yrs on, it is clear was being ignored by many
I said this in real time c. 2016! It was obvious bots were a key device by Team Trump and just a year prior it was done in Mexico. They call them accareados.
Join the club! We are small group. Those who are actually on the record for calling out the extent of Russian interference in the 2016 elections, actually in 2016. not post facto. Sucks to see that putins puppet is in Oval, but good to know that Patriots are on it in full now.
Ironically social media killed journalism and made the journalists ignore the story in plain sight. Much more entertaining for Trump to be a buffoon President... and better ratings.
