Pretty much my mission statement: "Whatever may be the limitations which trammel free speech elsewhere... the great State University of Wisconsin should ever encourage that continual and fearless sifting and winnowing by which alone the truth can be found"

It makes sense to stop logging of remnant forest when so much habitat is under threat from anthropogenic climate change. Why then do we tolerate giant new coal mines in Queensland in the aftermath of mass mortality of corals due to climate extremes on the ?

U.S. Farm bankruptcies have increased every year for the past five years--with farmers retiring or selling their farms due to financial strains. This trend is changing the economics of Midwestern towns as land ownership concentrates into fewer hands.

This may be one of the few sensible things written on RCP 8.5: (1) It recognize the good faith reasons why it was so widely used previously (2) It offers a thoughtful critique and suggestions for the best way to use it moving forward Nicely done,

West Virginians ask "what can I do to help Australia after the fires?" Remember that WV, w/pop of 1.8m (Aus pop 24.6m) and per cap gdp of $36k (Aus $54k) lost 23 people and ~1200 homes in floods of 2016 - a 1000 yr event. Talk climate change with your state reps.

I'm deeply troubled by the piece. It's not peer-reviewed research and is sponsored by an organization ("Breakthrough Institute") with a known climate-dismissive agenda:
