Many bird of prey species are extremely site faithful and remain on their territories all year. Please be mindful of what you post on social media, especially related to the locations of sensitive and vulnerable species (2/2)

So much symbolism packed into this crime. Rare bird monitored by our UK colleagues, as part of EU funded project, gets killed in Ireland, shortly before Brexit. Birds don't get human borders. Rule of law is an issue everywhere. EU cooperation matters.

“This is far from an isolated incident. The fact is that, of the small number of birds of prey that have been fitted w/tracking devices in Ireland or which have travelled here,a high proportion has been found in similar circumstances to Mary.”

The value of satellite tags & prompt response of RSPB Investigations again continues to highlight the problem of raptor persecution. Unfortunately illegal poisoning is a global problem & Ireland has had its share of cases affecting eagles & other raptors.

Change needed. Fisherman confessed to me he pulled drowned mum & cub from creel, it was I knew. Few fishermen admit, but it’s always been issue & never been addressed by legislatory bodies. It’s a big question how to, but there MUST to be change. pls RT
