America's +/- $500bn/yr TRADE DEFICIT a) destroys jobs, b) deindustrializes us, and c) puts us into debt to foreign nations. Globalists argue it doesn't matter. They're wrong.

Those who would defeat TRUMP must prove they'd get right things he is obviously getting right, like confronting America's decades-long TRADE crisis. They won't win by assuming that if Evil Mr. T does X, then X "must" be wrong, or by repeating discredited conventional wisdom.

People are whining that the US is undermining the . The US has *blocked* the WTO by obeying the WTO's own rules. has undermined the very CONCEPT of fair, open world trade by two decades of brazen, lawless MERCANTILISM.

Democrats only want to talk about DIVIDING the economic pie. Republicans understand the pie must grow, but think it will GROW BY ITSELF if just left alone. We need proactive industrial policies to MAKE THE PIE GROW.

Sanders and Warren are the only Democratic candidates sound on trade. I find Warren's prairie-populist opposition sounder than Sanders' democratic-socialist opposition. We need to fix capitalism, not reject it.

Anyone who thinks current trade wars are just about free trade vs. "populism" doesn't get how innately defective free trade is. Japan and Korea don't practice free trade - never have - and their political systems aren't in the grips of populism. Populism was just the messenger.

The U.S. is losing ground in advanced manufacturing technologies. The US had a negative trade balance across all high-technology mfg. sectors from 1998 to 2010. This includes fiber optics, LCDs, LEDs, rare earth elements, and ultra-heavy forgings.

In 1975, the U.S. was the global leader in the manufacture of machine tools. Today, the U.S. holds a 7% share, well behind that of China (22%), Germany (17%), and Japan (17%). Between 1990 and 2009, U.S. shipments of all metalworking machine exports fell by nearly 50%.

The EU's surrender to Huawei makes a mockery of the idea European nations need the EU to be secure against China. Long live Europe, good riddance EU!

Chinese government money is corrupting thousands of professors at universities across the US. Congress must pass legislation to force disclosure of funding from foreign governments and foreign companies. We need to create a new system for our national security.

has happened! GOOD. The European Economic Community made a certain amount of sense as a zone of (not absolutely) open trade between complementary and proximate developed (or rapidly developing) nations. The EU superstate was a power grab and bureaucratic monster.
