It represented the true values for Conservatives. The bait and switch was letting the referendum happen without explicitly ruling out FoM.

May put paid to it with her “citizens of nowhere” speech. At just when she should have compromised. A lot of the rancour over the last 3 years is on her for that moment.

She put paid to it even before then, with her "Brexit means Brexit" speech outside No 10 just after she became PM. A mistake of totally gargantuan proportions which ultimately put paid to her premiership as well.

I seem to recall on May’s deal being unveiled that it was too weak for the ERG mob and the DUP. Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t they instrumental in consistently shooting it down?
