Assuming on anything legacy based there would be a penality e.g. 0.8-0.9x the performance? Also 3x processor, probably quoted vs Intel, not Ryzen mobile? Interesting battery tho. Big gross margin improvement potentially on the M1 models? (Vs Intel's).

Seems plausible to me. Was stabilizing a 1080p video a couple of years ago and hit an order of magnitude performance drop after approximately 20 seconds on a laptop with 8 GB DRAM, and I'm sure it was due to the memory consumption, which rose linearly at the lower clip durations.

Ordered the MBP 13 with 8GB /256 to have a okay on. Have not paid this much on a laptop, for this low end RAM/SSD spec since 8-10 years ago? Skipped the £200 to upgrade a ram to 16GB bravely. Gonna be fun to see the browsers reload.
