Did you know that it's ? Until 1842, whole families worked together underground, where they were paid for how much coal they produced, not by the hour. This meant that if they didn’t work, they didn’t earn any money, making throwing a sickie a bad idea!

Most interesting to see the subtle deletion of Queen Victoria’s double chin by the touch-up artists of Bassano Studio in these negatives at . Her subjects didn’t want to see a plump sixty-something, they wanted to see a living legend.

4/4 However it comes back to the fundamental issue of finding a buyer and our current owner being prepared to accept a significant loss. He is honourable and I sympathise. Fifteen months ago he had the option to cut and run which would have resulted in the insolvency of the club.

3/4 Stefan Rupp will not remain the club's owner indefinitely and I'd be massively surprised if the current outlook at VP has not made him re-assess his commitment and desire to sell sooner than later. For all we know that may be happening.

2/4 Where Bury is relevant to our situation is that the fate of that club, Bolton, Macc (?) and even Oldham (?) have served to depress football club valuations and the economic case / attractiveness for investment by those with limited funds.

1/4 Those claiming that the fate of Bury and risk of insolvency is an excuse for lack of investment at miss the point. Bury was badly run and arguably exceptional. Any club that is mismanaged will inevitably come to grief and bigger numbers make it more likely.

30 Jan 1965 British ex-Prime Minister Winston Churchill's funeral took place. Dock cranes dipped as his barge passed but it later emerged that the dockworkers had refused to do it as they "didn't like" him and had to be paid extra to do it 😂😅😂
