    Google giving OEMs more reason to stay as stock as possible, could even enforce their launcher w/ limited customisation options available.

    Interesting app icon constraints to design for, could enforce simplicity. Given Android update rate, can't see many considering adaptive.

    Icons can be circular on one OEM device, squircle on another. Separate fg/bg makes parallax/animation possible too.

    Adaptive Icons: provide PNGs for app icon’s foreground & background w/o shadows. Device OEM provides mask to clip app icons to.
