pacing also works, incidentally. i mean, not always and for everyone, but before i "masked" my pacing habits away to appear more normal, those running around in circles in the livingroom hours were my most creative ones.

If you are out of ideas, go for a walk.
This paper found walking (whether outdoors or a treadmill) increased key types of creative thinking for over 80% of undergraduates. The reasons are not fully clear, but there seem to be direct effects on the brain. apa.org/pubs/journals/

i love this, but at the same time i *still* have to come to terms with the fact that the answer may forever be "no". i am tired, and i may remain tired forever, because capitalism and neuronormativity broke me.

There are no terrible people, but the pandemic has revealed some really terrible people.

people will filter it out as "alarmism" or "anxiety" or "dystopian sci-fi nonsense" or whateverthefuck.
so i don't really know how to get people to actually hear and process information about the real potential the consequences of failure
Show this thread
the obvious solution would be of course to *also* talk of the consequences of not ending the growth in atmospheric CO2 this century at all; but i honestly think this would also just end up like discussing the long-term and society-wide consequences of neverending covid:

we usually talk about the consequences of not keeping AGW below +1.5C, or 2C or similar; this is information that people do seem to process just fine, but like with the pandemic, they end up deciding that if the alternative is having to change how they live, they're ok with this

the thing that worries me the most currently is the degree to which even otherwise politically well-informed people don't seem to grasp what it would mean for humankind if we *don't* stop climate change.
Quote Tweet
Despite all our efforts, we're still emitting more CO2 than ever.
Humans will very likely destroy the planet more in 2023 than in any other year in history.
We need to push for action on this crisis now, even when we're far from election season. The Earth is worth it.

to the degree that they think you/we have any right to judge them at all (because hierarchical thinking and ower stuff and blah), they think they should be judged solely on how politely they express their opinions and how much they give to "charity"
Quote Tweet
Do the white conservatives who keep telling us to judge them on the content of their characters not realize that that’s what we’re doing?

Explode every gender binary!
Normalize: “sorta cis” “cis-ish” “who knows anymore” “more or less cis” “the vast cornfield between cis & nonbinary” —& any language that feels right—
AND! “cis” is & can be a VERY broad gender category & some ppl are Team Broadening it—also valid!
Quote Tweet
idk I still think cis-trans as a binary is still a binary and still bad

unfortunately hitting the gym at 11am does not turn you into jason stratham. maybe it's because i technically have plenty else to do, i just do it in the middle of the night.
Quote Tweet
i'd be jason statham if i could hit the gym at 10a because it'd mean i didn't have shit else to do

also, after having heard enough horror stories about prescriptions either not getting to the pharmacy or the pharmacy not having meds so you need to get them elsewhere... i think i prefer the system where i get handed my prescriptions to take to the pharmacy myself.

this being listed as the minimization of patient tasks has me seriously concerned. why aren't followup visits scheduled before you even leave the office, for example.
Quote Tweet
Pro-tip. If a patient struggles with executive functioning bc of ADHD or whatever reason, minimize the # of tasks you give them.
-send specialist referrals directly
-send prescriptions to their pharmacy
-do labs on site that day
-call them automatically for their follow up visit

every inch of my autistic adhd self is viscerally hating that e-mail. what the fuck is the point of an explicit deadline if there's a second, secret deadline?!?!?!?
Quote Tweet
All the unwritten rules and unexplained expectations are bad enough, but then you get people who take a context where the operating parameters are explicitly laid out and they pull "On time is late and early is on time" garbage and act like it's a rule. twitter.com/heyyitsjanea/s…

This piece from the far-right website Revolver News is better than most of the centrist commentary on “wokeness” because it explicitly states the goal is to keep liberal and left-wing opponents disoriented and cement right-wing control over education revolver.news/2023/02/desant
