I'd not wish cancer on anyone, but if you're using cancer as a marketing tool for your pseudoscience business, I sure do hope karma is real.

Yep. Terms like “integrative” and “functional” are marketing gimmicks used mainly by docs who want to justify charging high fees and selling supplements to anxious, (generally) healthy, wealthy people.

Tweeps, we’ve written a detailed sociological analysis of recent events in the Cochrane Collab. Need to name some reviewers. Any critical social scientists interested in this one? DMs open.

Today Trump claimed he will seize large swaths of land from private citizens at gunpoint and declare a “state of emergency” to build a wall without Congressional approval. In the face of tyranny, Republicans are outraged ... by a freshman Member of Congress using profanity.

We should not become numb to how fundamentally unacceptable it is to see these kinds of statements coming from official government accounts.

I agree that these are fairly characterized as lies. I would differentiate between campaigners who may genuinely believe in the efficacy of some of these treatments and the practitioners and other sources who are feeding them these lies.

Make sure to teach your kids, especially your daughters, the difference between being nice and being kind. Kindness is a healthy form of empathy. Grooming girls to be “nice” is intended to make them passive, overly accommodating and quiet.
