You may be familiar with the Northern Shoveler but now meet the Eastern Snow Shoveler (female). She needs storm chips.

I noticed the storm chips have an expiry date and I corrected it.

Okay, I sought and found the provincial Eastern Towhee today, and well, I challenge everyone to post a more floofed-up bird than this one. No helium was used making this photo.

I have spare storm chips if anyone needs them; seems the storm shifted north (unpredictably, I hear). Going to look for birds down by the sea shore this morning.

Found the "Comb-back" Ducks, a female and a male, in different locations in Halifax. In my anthropomorphizing way, I presume they are not on quacking terms. Or maybe I am just quacking up?

Sea monster above the sea fog. I guess if you are going to transport cars across the Atlantic Ocean may as well move as many as mechanically possible.

Which piece of "coastal art" do you prefer? Human-made or natural? Which one one will give you nightmares?

This is not a bird but has to be the best "random floating ice resembling a dolphin" I have ever photographed. (Um, may be the first, too.)

Birding drought here with work and weather working against me, so from the hard drive, an Eastern Rosella from Girraween National Park, Queenland. Rumour is there is a male Tufted Duck to pursue on the weekend.

Being able to fly doesn't necessarily make it easier to reach berries.

Tracks through the yard! Gotta love respectable snow (unlike that dump in NL). Puzzled by the brown ones? Those are vacuum cleaner wheel impressions in a carpet in the house. Look like tracks to me.

Happened across these two playing tag over the harbour. The Eagle never did tag the gull....probably a good thing, for the gull.

It can be tuft to find ducks in Halifax in the winter but here is a rare exception, a Tufted Duck, otherwise inclined to hang around Europe if you believe e-bird (and I do).

Alfred Hitchhawk dropped by for a dine & dash. Looks like he got a bit nervous about his bill when he spotted me.
