As I, and others, have said for years now, English wyteness has been tied up in the term "Anglo-Saxon." Anglo-Saxon was not the common insular term for the people in Britain in the early Middle Ages in England.https://twitter.com/ISASaxonists/status/1360447240058269696?s=20 …

More importantly,
@DavidLammy is openly receiving the same treatment that us BIPOC scholars receive in the field of early English studies in that we supposedly do not belong. This man is English. Born and bred.pic.twitter.com/RtEL7Pb5CwShow this thread -
Ms. Rancid Racist on the phone weaponized "Anglo-Saxon" as well, and
@davidlammy is perfectly within his right (because he would be absolutely correct) to say she is NOT an "Anglo-Saxon." Circulating this resource again:https://mrambaranolm.medium.com/history-bites-resources-on-the-problematic-term-anglo-saxon-part-1-9320b6a09eb7 …Show this thread -
Now the larger issue is that Britain is massively racist and this also includes its academic institutions. There are countless stories of racism in academia in the UK, just google it. As scholars we need to be more aggressive in pushing back against these racist narratives.pic.twitter.com/fYpk3ZAUlr

Racism in the UK is RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU. These are not one-offs. And please don't come into my mentions and say the term "English" is racist too.
@Davidlammy just said in your face that he is English. http://HE.IS .ENGLISH.#medievaltwitterShow this thread -
Make sure you do the work and let this thread reach all those massively racist scholars who are opposed to using terms that are more accurate and NOT RACIST, in the field of medieval studies

In particular, this thread is for all those supposed "leftists" who claim that opting for the term "English" is racist. Tell that to your BIPOC/BAME colleagues and citizens who are English like I've been telling you for years.pic.twitter.com/hx7tNanQcg

Instead of moving the conversations forward, you continue to opt for racist terminology & also just let racism slide in your fields, in your communities and in your country(countries). No one gives a shit if you marched whenever, your inaction *NOW* speaks volumes.

Antiracism is hard, that's why so many of you just lean into your "antifascism" yeah that's in quotes and pat your colleagues on the back fighting against racism. You know you can do two things right? RIGHT?

So, anyway, I knew this "English is racist too" argument that scholars revert to was a strawman to avoid tackling the term "Anglo-Saxon". You legit are tied to that term. BIPOC in the UK are fucking English.

Scholars as well as just the majority of Britain: you are absolutely racist as I called it. Keep showing yourselves. Have a blessed day.

HUGE ERROR IN THE FIRST TWEET: I meant to say
@Davidlammy IS ENGLISH. HE *IS NOT* RACIST. MY APOLOGIES. Duh to me. Thank you for catching that!Show this thread
