The ease with which white people don't conciously identify as 'white' in itself perpetuates white privilege and anti-blackness: it makes whiteness the norm (and therefore unrecognised) and anything else an abberation/'other'

Sorry to blow up your threads, but I was thinking about this today too. In my circus company (yes that's my day job) one of our black performers was treated way worse than everyone else by this one client, and it bothered me.

I should add, I'm Iranian, the other performers at that gig were east Asian and latinx, all of us clearly not white passing. One white person too. All of us treated fine but the black performer. Client was South Asian/Indian subcontinent in origin.
