I'd like to point out again that I have had stalkers and wyte supremacists after me for years, but more recently yes, violent threats from wyte supremacists have made it more important to not have my location disclosed.https://twitter.com/ISASaxonists/status/1186646682634727427?s=20 …

Another point is my name has always been in my bio. I often link to my work (which has my full name) &say things like "here is a piece I wrote", etc. My friends/acquaintances on here call me Mary all the time. It's no secret who I am. Having wyte men demand I use a photo of me ispic.twitter.com/n3tT36H0wH

not going to happen. My body does not belong to you. Also notice a complete lack of respect from Dr. Conan Doyle who I have never given permission to refer to me as Mary. My title (in my bio) is Dr. MRO. This is a complete lack of respect that Black women experience all the time.pic.twitter.com/xbzhHXnttW

Claiming that Black women (and other POC) speaking out for equity in academia and beyond is not "part of the problem." Part of the problem is wyte men inserting themselves into antiracist work trying to claim that the Irish are a race. Systemic racism is not the same as ethnic

discrimination. For Dr Doyle to misinterpret Audre Lourde "e-mine her work is appalling. Not sure what that was supposed to prove. She wasn't writing abt Irish oppression, she was writing (in this context) abt intersectionality &how wyte women don't see Black women as equals.pic.twitter.com/auWp2jyRCU

Keep in mind Dr. Doyle has apparently been obsessing about me for a long time (not sure why as we've never met). But here are a few highlights of someone who claims I'm the problem. Interesting that this obsession is linked to me asking for equity in the field.

So anyway, this all started with another disingenuous person asking for us to prove that racism existed in the field and to name just one racist or one racist piece of writing in medieval studies. If you don't see what's wrong with that, perhaps you are part of the problem. /end

Addendum: No one says we all need to like each other but these sorts of responses show how racially illiterate some people in the field (&other fields) are. There's a lot going on in both tweets & motive, so
#medievaltwitter should reflect on what is going on.#shakerace#bigger6Show this thread
