#medievaltwitter White supremacists &Right-wing media are running with the idea that we're out to ban use of the term "Anglo-Saxon" which is false. Pls use your voices/knowledge to correct this. We are CORRECTING an erroneous, misleading &misused term. No one is banning words.pic.twitter.com/WIrccPq6xE

This is how scholarship and research works. Our work and terminology reflects new research and/or a better understanding of past. The only reason this is a term people want to hold on to is because it is inextricably linked to whiteness, and this is proving us right.

Axel, I lived though the N Word Transition. I'm gonna tell you how this works. It will be offensive the day white people find it offensive. And not one day before.

The N-word still isn't offensive to white people, that's why they are still cool to use it to refer to me and other black/brown folx. But yes, this is how white supremacy works, you're right. It will change when enough white people realize it needs to be changed.

Where can I go to learn more about why/how 'Anglo-Saxon' is being mis-used? I believe you, I just want to know more so I can fix my ignorance on this topic. Attempts to look it up on search engines didn't turn up much. Can you point me to a decent primer on it?
