#medievaltwitter White supremacists &Right-wing media are running with the idea that we're out to ban use of the term "Anglo-Saxon" which is false. Pls use your voices/knowledge to correct this. We are CORRECTING an erroneous, misleading &misused term. No one is banning words.pic.twitter.com/WIrccPq6xE

This is how scholarship and research works. Our work and terminology reflects new research and/or a better understanding of past. The only reason this is a term people want to hold on to is because it is inextricably linked to whiteness, and this is proving us right.

Since no one will deputize me as the word marshal, I'll settle for a position backed by scholarship that confronts our discipline's racist foundations. I thank scholars who consider the evidence carefully and those who confront right wing extremist attempts to twist this issue.pic.twitter.com/fAbyUa746b
