But today I thank you for rallying & pulling together. At the heart of this was not getting rid of fake accounts or a slanderous video. Ppl need to acknowledge & see the whiteness in the field as a problem & how this represention has sent the wrong message for a century+. 2/5

what is angering these racists behind these attacks. So although we don't merely want bodies to up our diversity count within a racist system, understand why our representation matters especially in Early Medieval Studies. 4/5

This is not unique to our field, but given that our field's name has been part of a racist past for so long, we need to shed this baggage. The public's understanding of what we do/who we are needs to change. And you need to support BIPOC in other fields too.
