This calls for leeches. On the writer. Maybe some bloodletting to purge those foul humors. And a good exorcist.https://twitter.com/ISASaxonists/status/1175006349916327937 …

Here's something to ponder before we all party hard (cause that's what academics do) on the weekend. This JUST arrived on the listserv this morning. #medievaltwitter #shakerace Someone send me something strong to drink. Also send cake and or gifs. pic.twitter.com/Te05xFEsvm

I still remember the reaction in undergrad when I asked why we only talked about white people in medieval history like the rest of the world was on pause, so I vote we only send this person pre 11th century European doctors. That should be purging if I remember correctly

I am so on board with this! Also, this whole "we only talked about white people" is still a thing as well as an almost all white field, hence all this fallout but I think I can sharpen my argument with regards to whitewashing history if I steal your idea (with credit of course).

Go for it! I just like to rant about trade goods visible in paintings & Arabic medical texts.

Don't forget to rant about all those Northern Africans who helped establish intellectual and religious institutions. Those migrants were smart AF.

Wait, does that mean I get to bring up how much travel was happening around the world? I love that game.

You bet your butt you do. There was migration for intellectual exchange even in early England from Northern Africa (6th cent.), not just warring and raiding and shit. And travel and trade was far beyond what people think/believe.pic.twitter.com/lApqKGgAuU

My fav example of exchange of ideas/material is the fact that Offa of Mercia took a gold arabic dinar and JUST STAMPED OFFA REX ON IT UPSIDE DOWN! How cool is that??pic.twitter.com/nCV5N9QhG1

This was actually a copy, not a real dinar. The Arabic has some errors apparently. It was based on a real dinar though.
