At Cox’s Bazar, Rohingya told me their stories, not just of the genocide and crimes against humanity they faced, but of their hopes and plans for the future. Their resilience in the face of suffering inspires. Following ’s genocide determination, our work continues.

We sanctioned former President Cartes and current Vice President Velazquez for their involvement in corruption that undermines democratic institutions in Paraguay. Governments must be responsive to their people, and not manipulated for the benefit of a corrupt political elite.

Countries that uphold religious freedom enjoy greater peace, stability, and economic prosperity. A nation can never reach its fullest potential when some are excluded from education, healthcare, jobs and other essential societal functions because of their beliefs.

I condemn this despicable act. Desecration of any and all holy sites is unacceptable, and the sanctity of burial must be respected. Families have the right to peacefully lay to rest loved ones.
We must work together to call out all forms of hate whenever and wherever they occur.
