On #WorldChildrensDay, we reiterate that all children deserve care and protection, regardless of their migration status and make a call to take actions towards ending child immigration detention and ensuring that alternatives to detention are accessible and available.
The appointment of a competent guardian is a key procedural safeguard to ensure respect for the best interests of an unaccompanied or separated child. Guardians should be trained for knowledge & skills to provide necessary care & to understand specific needs of migrant children.

Access to early childhood care & education is an important tool for the integration of migrant children. Capacity building for cross-cultural competences among education professionals is fundamental to promote access & an enabling learning environment for migrant children.
