Here’s mine: If a programming language doesn’t have pointers, then it’s basically a scripting language. And scripting language isn’t real programming.

And while I appreciate well-structured code and I strive for it, programming is only really fun when it’s a big ugly hack where I only understand about 10% of what I’m doing but get it done anyway.
