    This thread is a reminder of an era which most baby boomers thought they'd never see return.

    I was born in 1949. At 16 birth control pills were illegal unless you had serious female problems. This was in 1965. The sexual revolution was in full force OK. I lost 11 friends to back ally abortions. It was a nutty time. Vietnam was taking our peers and it was sad.

    Encountered many journalists in my career. Hard jobs, low pay, rough hours, little protection from a world full of nuts. Most give their all b/c a trusted free press is vital. Pray for the victims. Reporters aren’t the enemy no matter your politics. We are all in this together.

    Profile of a journalist's life ..

    The people who work in newsrooms like the Capital Gazette do hard work for low pay because they love their communities. They're reporters who sit through long and boring zoning meetings because whether a new development gets approved can make a huge difference for a neighborhood.
