For Indigenous funds, accountability starts with free prior and informed consent - with inclusive participation of all sectors to collectively design and validate projects. What does not work is when you fail to include women, children and elders. #COP27

Sheela Patel discusses that poor people don't have the experience to negotiate for the funds. She says the LLA principles have helped groups to have the courage to tell the people with the big bucks that this is what they want and how it should happen. #COP27

Ritu Bharadwaj: current funds and finance are not sufficient. Funds are governed by the fund mandate, not the communities' needs. We need to harmonise the existing sources of finance, with bottom-up planning involving communities. Planning process has to be agile & responsive.

Michai Robertson, advisor : With AOSIS had local workshops where we discussed what people need funded to address loss and damage. Need local and regional level responses, with direct access to finance. The funds are not positioned to look at non-economic losses. #COP27
