To be fair the marketing of this game did not help and then there was the delay which we later got nothing speaking about the game until SXSW.

Yes because for the 100th time none of the other racers (minus Shadow) would be able to keep up with him. And don't give me that "They run the same speed in the classic games" bullshit. Sonic's not even close to top speed there.
