@ID_AA_Carmack In short, it is impossible to know from that post what, specifically, Charles Murray is talking about.

@billjings the desire for open and civil discussion? -
@ID_AA_Carmack Everyone has a desire for open and civil discussion. He might as well rise up and defend motherhood and apple pie. -
@billjings surely looking at the comment thread for that article is evidence against everyone having a desire for open and civil discussion -
@ID_AA_Carmack Speaking of the concrete vs. the general...:) One can learn a lot about the dynamics of free speech from internet fora. -
@ID_AA_Carmack Civil *and* open speech is not easy. So I don't have a lot of patience for those who idly stand on platitudes.

@ID_AA_Carmack I agree with the sentiments but I also agree with "any discussion of IQ is stupid (see http://www.wired.co.uk/magazine/archive/2013/02/ideas-bank/raise-your-iq-instantly … for example) -
@raudelmil that thesis sounds plausible, but the exact same controversies would be present if just the reasoning capacity were discussed. -
@id_aa_carmack that controversy is probably a symptom of how woefully ill-defined the words are.

@ID_AA_Carmack I look askance at *any* ideological invective that manages to completely omit references to the facts on the ground. -
@billjings stop with the vague pseudo-intellectual horseshit. Have the backbone to state your position clearly without the verbal ballet. -
@HumpX If I read a post entitled, “In Defense Of Foo”, I expect some discussion of Foo.
