Another opportunity for AMD.

amd is all in for PCIe Lanes, not SLI Bridges. But that it's a possibility still. Assload of Lanes with Epyc and Threadripper CPUs. Plus PCIe downgrades all the way to a single Lane perfectly gracefully.

the bandwidth is cut after more than two cards while four is the max. the DGX series is what they would recommend and oh you will pay a lot for it.
-
Aggregate bandwidth scales perfectly in a ring. Many, or even most, applications need different topologies, but there are some that work fine in rings. Crypto is the obvious one, but most of the AI things I think about would also do fine.

you're gonna need an nvlink host of some kind to communicate with the rest of them.
-
One single motherboard with a card plugged in, tons of other cards in an NVLink ring from it.

Sad reality for
#Nvidia NVLink is they gimped drivers now so consumer GeForce cards only work with max 1 bridge per system. Only the Quadro line is able to run more than 1 pair with latest drivers. This is a big drawback for the GPU render community.https://twitter.com/MacDaffy/status/1218723643049566209 … -
