Where does all the text & data that IBM just freely uses come from? Isn't most of that text copyrighted? How can they use it 'commercially' for free & can anyone do that? For instance, why can't someone sell a tee shirt with copyrighted text on it & just say it's a 'tee shirt'!

They are using copyrighted text for commercial gain, why are they allowed to do that? Is it because it's indirect use & the customer never sees the actual text used? Is it because they only use a tiny portion of this text & don't provide the customer with the actual text?

Do they use copyrighted books, including textbooks, to do this? How much of a copyrighted 'book' are they allowed to use? What if the book contains unique & original knowledge (say that is used to answer a question)? What if that (copyrighted) answer is used over & over again?
