In the comments people were complaining about those who did not have kids not getting any benefit out of parental leave. Here in Sweden most of my friends have gotten the benefit of parental leave even if they did not have kids. Because their parents used it.

Both my parents took parental leave. As did both of my husband's parents. My husband and I were home on leave with our child. We are on the 3:rd generation using parental leave. Even if you don't use it as a grownup you can have had use of it as a child.
