    My 1999 self wouldn't even know how to have a substantive conversation with my current self. But my 2009 self would be giggling over a table at the Starbucks over on Washtenaw Ave. Growth. (Younger women, your best years are ahead of you. Trust me on that one.)

    Wondering where the welts & red marks on my legs & hips came from. Then I realized it was from all the tugging/rubbing trying to put on my shapewear for event last night. All that and it didn't even hold my backfat! Note to self: Don't put on shapewear while body is still moist.

    Post-emancipation, fried chicken enabled African American women to enjoy financial freedom. A group of AA women, known as waiter carriers, began selling chicken on trains before dining-car train travel existed.

    Known as “waiter carriers,” African American women found a path to financial freedom through fried chicken in the 1800s, and put Gordonsville, Virginia on the map as the "Fried Chicken Capital of the World.”
