It should not be treated as a controversial statement for EU leaders to make. But of course no surprise that the UK government will treat it as attempted interference.

Tusk is providing the template for EU stance on Scotland: no interference on whether or not independence should happen, but if independence were to happen, welcoming and keen on Scotland to (re)join. And why wouldn't the EU want a highly developed European country to join?

Interesting how the BBC in the World at one gave Boris Johnson the treatment previously reserved for Sinn Fein leaders in the 1980s: have his speech read by an actor.

In case any of the arguments you already heard in favour of Brexit weren't quite reactionary enough for your taste. This.

Claiming victory in the "Brexit wars" while feeling misunderstood by the losers sounds quite needy to me.

Equivalent takes "Leavers most tolerant people" or ... "Leavers most likely to deny climate change, reject gay marriage, dislike immigrants and want the state to kill people - and they don't care what you think about it". /4

Makes sense. If you are a climate change denier, you want this to be understood as a debate between equally valid opinions, despite the balance of scientific opinion being about 98 to 2.

The future of FoM: EU citizens in UK: have another 30 countries to move to if they so wish. EU citizens outside UK: have another 29 countries to move to if they so wish. UK citizens in EU: have 1 country they can move back to. UK citizens in UK: have 1 country to stay in.

The coverage is as racist as you would expect anyway, but what's with the Colditz reference?

This is the absolute beauty of UK General Election results: you can interpret anything into them, e.g. that it would translate into a victory for Leave or Remain if it had been a referendum instead (whatever your preferred outcome for that would be).

The fun of any future rejoin campaign would be that it'll suffer from comparison of proposed with prior EU membership. Only through such a rejoin campaign will UK voters ever learn about the sweetheart deal that they once had.

On the plus side: almost feels like a spring day in Glasgow today. If the rain stays away I declare this beer garden weather.

So at the end of today, is there a realistic chance of anyone signing on the UK, or will we just be out of contract?

It's not most Scots. It is actually 43-42 before you remove don't knows. It's "more Scots back independence than not", which would be sufficiently newsworthy.
