Good point. Although I think that in this case, the "motivator" of the action, even if dependent on belief, is so obviously wrong that any justification can be seen as a mental disorder. A failure to recognize reality so to say.

The significant point of belief is the believer considers it to be true when evidence supporting it is absent or is contrary to the belief. And so each partisan holds themselves to be intellectually superior to their counterparts who are too stupid to see facts..or dog whistles.
