So apparently @GazillionGames has laid off all the devs for @MarvelHeroes the day before Thanksgiving and is shutting the game down FRIDAY instead of 12/31.
I didn't think the fate of this game could get worse, and then it really did.
Unfortunate reality of the industry. Money runs dry, publisher deems the project not cost efficient, or just plain bad management: passionate people lose their jobs :(.

We get told a few weeks into GH, "You will be laid off multiple times during your career, prepare for it."
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The particular case of Marvel Heroes seems to be a perfect storm: 1) the game is fun but has trouble being profitable on PC. 2) A new CEO comes in and directs the team to prioritize a console port to both XB1 and PS4.
-
3) The new CEO doesn't comport himself well publically, and some criminal allegations from his past catch up with him. 4) The PC version of the game stagnates since the devs are all on console. 5) The game STILL doesn't make enough despite all three platforms.
