Is there a meaningful distinction between supervenience and emergence here? Though they could entail subtly different property relationships between higher and lower order phenomena/systems, they both place the mind on similar ontological loci —re its place in nature.

Generally speaking, higher-level properties are emergent if they are qualitatively incommensurate/different from lower-level properties. Whereas higher-level properties are supervenient if they are determined/derivable from lower-level properties.
