A general thing I believe: mathsy fields are harder to do minimally well to be in an academic field, but social fields are much harder to actually do well (mathematical social fields enjoy both of these "advantages" lmao)....

...passing the tests to work on QFT is difficult, you just gotta know difficult maths and we know methods of detecting if you don't. But, like, this is related to fact that once you have jumped that bar we also know ways of cranking out useful if somewhat boring normal science...

Presumably meta-philosophy is at least as hard as the least-hard bit of philosophy.

I find that whatever I'm currently working on is the hardest philosophical problem known to man.

In my opinion, it’s more about the philosopher’s writing style. If they have an obscurant style it’s harder to grasp concepts. Heidegger and Lacan come to mind even though there’s nothing particularly too complicated about phenomenology or structuralism.

The clarity of the writing is usually in inverse proportion to the difficulty of the subject itself. Writers of the most difficult philosophy usually write with lucidity and even humour.

I honestly would say yes to this question. I find say Philosophy of mathematics harder than Existentialism. I think because the former presupposes familiarity with math, which I personally have always struggled with.

I'd say more specifically that there are branches of philosophy in which it's more difficult to be clear and make substantive claims. But this difficulty might stem partly from the fact that the relevant fields are less formal, and so present less 'technical' difficulty

yes, phil of quatum physics for example.

That's a good example of where the philosophy bit is almost non-existent because the difficulty is describing the physics properly. It's easy to get away with statements about things most people don't know about.
