Can you move a notice of motion in the Senate on Monday which just calls for the removal of any public funding of private schools. Please.
Thanks.

Once you have built enough new schools to house the 35% of kids attending private schools and sourced the billions to replace the school fees subsidising them.

How about just removing charity status from all churches. Why should we pay twice for these private schools? Once thro tax exemptions, and again through subsidies.

Bullshit. If you haven't lodged it already, it can't be considered before Tuesday. More than two years and you still don't know how the Senate works.

well that’s helpful

Government funded religious schools are not independent, therefore they should not be exempt from the rule of law. If they wish to be independent, they should not be government funded.

Dr Jillian Carroll, neither are religious schools free from existing Australian laws. They may think they have all kinds of rights to discriminate, but essentially our laws apply to them too. MP’s seem ‘hell bent’ on allowing them to bypass upholding Australian values. Freedom?

Also, lobby Group Just-Equal commissioned a Galaxy You-Gov survey in April this year which found that 78% of Australians believed that religious schools should be stripped of public funds if they discriminate against LGBTI teachers and students. (1015 respondents nationwide).
-
And 77% probably think they should be stripped of public funds anyway.
