We hear you. Could you share more info about the issue you're referring to for us to look into this further? Thanks.

For 12 years now I've been giving out the URL http://youtube.com/licensetodrive for my channel with the username licensetodrive (http://youtube.com/channel/UCDRb_n2F1M795rPnRHemg5Q …), but I discovered today it now it goes to someone else's channel. I would that URL back.

Thanks for clarifying. Have you already claimed the URL before? If yes, do you remember changing or releasing the custom URL? Keep us posted.

Given that the URL always went to my channel it looked plainly obvious that it was claimed by default, I was never told I had to claim it to keep it.

Since YouTube treats legacy username URLs as your primary channel URL, they can't be changed. If eligible, you can still claim a custom URL. You can learn more about custom URL's here: http://yt.be/help/LYia

http://youtube.com/licensetodrive was a working URL that always went to my channel, every reasonable person would say I owned that URL, because if you go to http://youtube.com/MadeUpWord it says "This page isn't available." You falsely led me to believe I owned that URL. I want it back.

Please reach out to our Creator Support team. They should be able to help with this. Here's how: https://yt.be/help/partners . Hope this gets resolved.

Thank you, but I'm not in the Partner Program and don't see the "Get Creator Support" option, so I joined Twitter only to contact you. My last resort is to hope I'm let into the Partner Program just to try and resolve this issue? You can imagine my frustration right now.

Sounds like what you had is a legacy URL (user/) which is different than a custom URL (c/). Although that specific URL has been claimed by someone else, we can help you get a new custom URL, just let us know.

How did you let it be claimed by someone else when it was already pointing at my channel? That's a fault on your end, I don't want a new custom URL, I want my old one back.
