    I genuinely find it hilarious that Taylor Swift has BEEN smashing the singles AND albums charts since like 2008 but some wanna drag her because multiple versions of a huge 🔥 country TRAP song count as ONE for the charts and collectively blocked 2 of her POP songs from #1

    The interesting thing about the “Taylor Swift corporatizing pride” thing is that, unlike corporations, Taylor isn’t secretly donating to republican candidates and IS doing multiple things at once to support LGBTQ people.

    If the next single is Track 5 and they aim for a release in another month and a half (the same gap between ME!/YNTCD), I think it'd be brilliant to launch the album with something more emotionally vulnerable. It would also peak curiosity as to what this album is REALLY about.

    Do I love this strategy still? Not particularly. Delicate proved she can release the deep cuts and have them sustain. I think it's probably just harder to convince a label head of that, particularly when you've just moved to one of the biggest out there.

    A few key things to keep in mind that Taylor's said: - The album has a "pretty big story". - There are some "sad sad sad" songs. ME!/YNTCD don't even touch any of that. Just as all of her pre-release singles have danced around the main themes/sounds of their albums

    It feels almost painfully deliberate that she served us two songs that are track 14 +16 on the album (of 18 songs). That not only leaves these songs out of context but once again reveals how Taylor keeps the story she is telling on these albums a mystery until it's release

    I love how every era we have to sit through journalists and "music critics" tripping over themselves trying to convince us that the pre-release singles will sound exactly like the album, only to eat their words when the album drops and it's unlike anything anyone expected
