Robbins says her marriage to a successful white man also comes up a lot. "As if I had any choice of who I fell in love with 26 years ago ... While they share certain privileges, Robbins says the committee mom blinded herself to the all-important identifier that separates them. "The true privilege is that my Blackness can slip her mind from time to time, but the world we live in won’t ever let me forget it."
