When a narrative surfaces (Coinbase IPO = Exchange Token go up), usually the most favourable play is to load the truck up on the flagship asset most representative of that, instead of looking to play underdogs.
Being a native token of a growing network sure helps too.

And agree, if you have some level of knowledge it's not worth buying the indices for longs.
But they're great vehicles to short and hedge (esp defi-perp). -
