Fwiw, BSC isn’t just a new kid on the block. The whole binance chain movement with BEP-2 and binance DEX were early
They were extremely trivial though in terms of usage. Doubt their existence had a meaningful effect on BSC in its current form.

More so laying the foundation. Much easier to point to an existing team of people + users as opposed to opportunistically just flipping 180. Also some decent projects came through the DEX: Rune and I think Cream.

Also, DeFi familiarity and narrative didn't meaningfully exist back then. BSC leveraged the heavy lifting that the ETH ecosystem did the past 2-3 quarters.
