Jaime isn't dying at the mountains hands. He'll either die fighting alongside Brienne or while playing a pivotal role in taking down the Nights King, hence "Kingslayer".

I really enjoyed his character, he’d pop up like once a season and kill all the annoying ass characters. Push a bitch through a moon door
assassinate an annoying brat

There are 5 episodes left with a bunch of plots and subplots to wrap up. Most subplots won't even receive a conclusion in my opinon. They're definitely not bringing back old arcs/characters.
