It will cost less to give a few rich people the same benefit than means-testing every American. And if we do it right they'll be getting taxed a hell of a lot more than 1k / mo. Also...if you earn more do you lose net income? Not w/ UBI.

We already means test every American, it’s called income tax. Instituting a negative income tax is a simple way to provide a guaranteed income above poverty.

guaranteed wage might be like block grants, where they will say you have money and don't need help, and expect the block grant to cover 200% of its amount. guaranteed jobs would mean cities and states could have things like work from home telephone help.

How do you get people that are barely above that “poverty line” to support your programs? They support it by stopping to work or falsifying their income or both. We do not need rocket scientists in economics but we do need not just progressives but thinking progressives.
