Unfortunately this no longer applies to a lot of workers, such as salary or healthcare workers among others. I have worked both such jobs and am consistently run into the ground and benefits are taken away every year. We need unions and more workers rights!
In this day, in 1916, Congress passed the Adamson Act, the 1st federal law guaranteeing an 8 hr work day in a private industry. These days people are working multiple jobs to stay afloat yet this law doesn’t protect them. 40 hour work week must be combined with minimum pay requirements so people can make a decent life.
