Last Congress, legislation to establish a federal safety framework for self-driving technology, the SELF DRIVE Act, was approved unanimously 54-0 out of the committee and passed the House of Representatives by voice vote. republicans-energycommerce.house.gov/selfdrive/

Without a national policy, there is a real risk of states developing a patchwork of laws related to self-driving cars. We also risk keeping investment and innovation in this life-saving technology here at home, which is why we must continue this work in the 116th Congress.
