This is good. We want people to return to fact based journalism and positive debates, not partisan banter that isn't based on reality

The only upside would be the advertising model used by publications dies.

Interesting that "The Atlantic" took a dip since its articles aren't solely in the political vein. I'd quibble a bit with the "far left" appealtion as well give the variety of authors. Sure you have Kendi, but also Graham Wood.

I think it characterized The Atlantic as “left-leaning” and not far left, but I’m also surprised with the readership dip. Such a good overall publication. I remember when it used to be called Atlantic Monthly. Wish they included info about NPR, PBS NewsHour.

Truth in advertising sure, but fairness doctrine would just require the more neutral networks to give half their time to Santorum, Meadows, Pompeo etc. Fairness doctrine had only covered broadcast (mostly dead now) and didn't base on fact basis but "both sides"

And yet our mental health has improved dramatically. I’m good with that. Hopefully, that stupid term “fake news” is on the way out.

I'm still disheartened from what we observed the last 6 years. I'm too skittish to be optimistic that media consumers have wizened up. I'd hoped that post-election, we'd see the tabloid cable news channels pivot towards more reporting. They've doubled down on culture outrage
