  1. Genuine question: when I have mmap, the actual in-mem buffer size (together with few other things) is managed by OS based on amount of unused RAM. Now, how will that work when we have many docker containers running on a single OS? May they indirectly degrade that performance?

    1. The user of my constructed app/CLI/thing doesn't need anything but the executable that I provide for them. No need to setup , , or anything else from the "stack". No PIP install wahtevs.

  3. I think, that people who like to trash Go, misunderstand the reasons why to pick it. You don't pick Go for syntax (usually) - you pick it for low-latency GC, powerful (preemptive) scheduler, single binary, race detector, quite comprehensive std lib and opinionated tooling.

Unpopular opinion: I've seen plenty of projects, where big teams of devs were using most ambitious frameworks and architectures... all to solve business requirements that average CMS could realize with a fraction of that effort.

So I think I’m going to start an event that happens in Reykjavík every summer for OSS where we bring big names from around the world - but the requirement is that they must also bring a new speaker to mentor and coach at the same time. Email confconf@nivenly.com

Mostly useless but interesting trick: .NET Core knows how to inline structs and how to optimize them eg. by using SIMD registers. While case below is really a microoptimization, first method is ~20% faster than the second.

Which platform is fastest/slowest in terms of Regex? PS: we need similar thing for XML parsing, and I suspect results would be similar.

Nice discovery: when you have the same project open in VS Code and JetBrains Rider, you may boil hour hardware, as these two will trigger constant change/synchronize/refresh loop for each other.

My first impressions of after having spent about 5 hours writing a small module: It makes me excited to code in, but for different reasons than other languages excite me. Coding in Rust appeals strongly to perfectionism.

. v1.4.0-beta4 is now live on - this is a pretty major step forward in our v1.4.0 milestone. Includes major Akka.Remote performance improvements, Akka.Cluster.Metrics (new module,) and tons of other small fixes. Release notes:
